A warm welcome to Real Rochdale
Hello and welcome back to the latest edition of Real Rochdale.
Jenny Kennedy, pictured on our front cover, was awarded this year’s
Woman of Rochdale title for all of her outstanding work in Darnhill and
wider Heywood communities.
10-year-old Darcie and her dog, Domino, appeared at Crufts in March
2023 placing fourth overall in the Young Kennel Club handling hound
category.
Talking about amazing achievements, Rochdale Sacred Heart FC have clinched the league and cup
double after an incredible year, having not lost their last 20 matches of the season.
Couzens Hair Salon celebrates 40 years on The Walk this summer meaning it is one of the longest-
standing businesses in the town centre. Another local business, Rochdale Online, also marks 25 years
of independent news publication. Great accomplishments for both companies!
Roy Down shares with us his top tips on how to keep your plants well-hydrated as we enter the
warmest season of the year.
Local baker, Natasha Brown, has once again prepared a delicious recipe for everyone to enjoy. Her
pavlovas take some time to make but are worth the effort when served with cream and fruit of your
choice.
San Remo is a name most of us will be familiar with here in town. In a new feature, Tom McNeeney
outlines exactly what makes the Drake Street staple so special – and keeps us coming back for more!
As always, thank you to our advertisers and contributors – and we hope you enjoy this issue.
