A warm welcome to Real Rochdale
In this first edition of Real Rochdale for 2022 we have Rochdale-born
individuals who have achieved amazing success in their careers. Toni
Baker, a very talented musician, became the man behind the music of
Phoenix Nights after comedian Peter Kay found his advert in the paper
offering piano lessons, whilst photographer Andrew Huszar has
captured photos for Lisa Stansfield and at the first-ever game
played at the ‘new’ Wembley Stadium.
This year marks 50 years of Petrus, a Rochdale-based homelessness
charity, changing lives. Having achieved this milestone, Petrus is aiming
to raise £50,000 to help continue tackling homelessness.
Speaking of celebrating achievements, Lieutenant Commander Lawrence Scholes, the current ‘Man
of Rochdale’, speaks to us about his lifetime involvement with the sea cadets.
Rochdale in Bloom has once again been named as a finalist in Britain in Bloom nationals, and is
hoping to win gold for the sixth time.
Albert Mill in Milnrow is home to 19 small businesses, from creative workshops to a studio that holds
dance and fitness classes, Albert Mill provides a variety of different businesses to visit.
Natasha Brown, from the award-winning Brown’s Cakes, has a recipe for a delicious cheese and onion
pie for you to enjoy.

for Spring.
