Rochdale AFC Women’s team entered the Greater Manchester Women’s North West Division in 2023, following a restructure of the team in open age form.
Under the stewardship of experienced manager Lee Atkinson, the squad achieved cup glory in their first season as they claimed the Premier Cup with victory over Salford United Juniors.
Their second season provided history for the club in a first-ever promotion; after a third-placed finish, the club made the step up to Tier Six to compete in the North West Regional Central Division.
Dale have started life in the league well and beat Atherton Laburnum Rovers in a game played at the Crown Oil Arena in front of hundreds of supporters.
Led by captain Brooke Strudwick, the club has seen changes in coaching and playing staff in the hope of sustaining their future in Tier Six and above. Jordan Morris has joined as assistant to Atkinson (they previously worked together at Bolton Wanderers), and new faces such as Sophie Coates, Erin Whyte, Katie King and Daisy Mason provide optimism for a successful season.
