Editor's welcome

A warm welcome to Real Rochdale magazine

This is the fourth quarterly magazine we have published since I took over as editor of Real Rochdale magazine and once again it is packed with  features about the people, places, businesses and organisations in the Borough of Rochdale.

I visited Ebor Studio in Littleborough to find out more about Kara Lyons, who is currently working on a sculpture of Mayor Janet Emsley.

Nikki Staley spoke to Karen Boardman, Rochdale Development Agency’s music manager - read about Karen’s fascinating musical background on pages four and five.

Over the past year Roch Valley Radio launched a volunteer-led news service on its website, keeping local reporting alive across the borough at a time when independent coverage was disappearing.

Rochdale’s streets were transformed into an immersive night-time light and audio experience as hundreds of residents and visitors explored the town as it’s never been seen before - see pages 34 and 35.

As you can see on the contents page, there is much more to read - I hope you enjoy doing so.
