Heywood town centre stepped back in time for the hugely popular Heywood 1940s Day.

Highlights included re-enactors in military uniform and dress, military vehicles, full size replicas of a Hurricane and a Spitfire, an air raid re-enactment, a vintage funfair, classic cars, a street party, tea dances, and stalls offering 1940s-themed food and drinks.

Entertainment included vintage and 1940s swing big band singer Lilli De Carlo at Trinity Methodist Church, live music with Miss Marina Mae capturing the spirit of the 1940s performing at The Dressers Arms. Tilly’s Tea Room hosted music with A-Train Swing vintage DJ and dancing team, plus food and drink. There was also brass bands playing sounds of the 1940s.
