A warm welcome to Real Rochdale

Hello and welcome to the latest issue of Real Rochdale.

We were thrilled to witness the return of the Feel Good Festival this year,
with headline acts Ocean Colour Scene and pop sensation Heather Small
gracing the stage in the heart of the town centre. Don’t miss our photos and
report on this fantastic local event.

In this edition, we also revisit a historic milestone for Rochdale – the day we
made history by cooking the world’s largest pancake. Join us as we celebrate
the 30th anniversary of this remarkable event, with a nostalgic feature that
                                         brings back fond memories.

Rochdale’s very own soap star, Sue Devaney, has been announced as a new patron for Springhill Hospice. You
can read more about this exciting news on page 29.

We also offer an in-depth exploration of Rochdale’s oldest mosque, the Golden Mosque, which not only serves
the community but also stands as a significant piece of local history that many may be unaware of.

We visited Calderbrook Alpacas, who work with care homes, schools, children with additional needs and
dementia patients, offering a unique form of therapy.

These are just a few of the features you’ll find in this issue. Do take a moment to browse through and discover
what’s on in the town, recipes from Natasha Brown of Brown’s Cakes, and David Hayden from The Gallows,
and an enlightening health column by published women’s health expert and GP, Dr Anita Sharma.

As always, our heartfelt thanks go to our advertisers and contributors, whose support makes each issue such
an engaging read. We hope you enjoy this edition.
