Winter 2022Tickled pink! Best window displays for Cancer Research UK
Three winners have been chosen as having the best window displays for the annual Little’Pink’Borough and Milnrow’Pink’Hey cancer awareness campaigns.
The Gallows pub and Rebecca’s Café were named as joint winners for Milnrow’Pink’Hey, whilst The Ark Nursery won the title for Little’Pink’Borough.
Littleborough’s displays were judged by councillors Ashley Dearnley and John Taylor, whilst Milnrow and Newhey’s were judged by councillors Andy Kelly and Dave Bamford, and Kath O’Donnell, one of the organisers.
Councillors Dearnley and Taylor were very impressed with the amount of work, time, effort that had gone into the many windows at The Ark, each with different messages of hope, awareness, joined by the children in creating fantastic displays.
Rebecca’s Café had many messages in their window display and also made homemade cookies in love heart shapes with pink bras on them; each cookie sold saw a donation made towards the charity.
The Gallows featured hand-painted windows featuring a tree of life and hope, the Cancer Research logo, different bras on washing lines, as well as other pink displays. They also held two afternoon teas and a raffle to raise funds.
The event is organised by The Three Amigos FUNdraising Group, Tracey Jacobs and Suzanne Gumbley, who said: “Thank you to everyone for taking part. We have had lots of supporters again this year including nurseries and schools, who have done various fundraising events.
“There were some outstanding displays and we are extremely grateful for all who have supported us and taken the time to create the pink displays that really brighten the villages up and is a talking point raising awareness.”
Littleborough’s pink campaign is in its seventh year and Milnrow’Pink’Hey is in its second year. Last year’s event raised a combined £18,000 for Cancer Research UK.
