Winter 2020Giant artwork celebrating the best bits of Rochdale opens
The side of 21 Baillie Street has been transformed by 91 images depicting what Rochdale means to the artists as part of the ‘Find Your Space’ art project.
Some of the artwork has come from as far afield as America, whilst other entries have come from children as young as six.
Rochdale Hornets fan Abigail Yarwood is one of the youngest to be included for her rugby-themed drawing and retired teacher Judith Hunt is delighted her black and white photograph of ‘The Walk’ has been depicted.
New York artist and art teacher Janae Sunshine Ramirez’s submission of her Rochdale husband abseiling down the Town Hall during the Feel Good Festival has also been included, as has Kerry Hargreaves’ photo of Rochdale toastmaster Alan Calow at Rochdale Town Hall.
Steve Kuncewicz, a non-executive director of the Rochdale Development Agency, has overseen the project. He said: “It’s absolutely spectacular. It just goes to show that Rochdale means so much to so many people.
“Just looking at it reminds you of the emotional connection people have with Rochdale. This project gives people something to look forward to and celebrate.”
The ‘Find Your Space’ art project is a multi-agency initiative, led by Rochdale Development Agency.
