Summer 2021Fancy dress posties raise £1,700 for MIND
Rochdale’s Royal Mail posties raised around £1,700 for charity in May after delivering their rounds in fancy dress.
Over 50 postmen and women working across the borough donned costumes to raise funds for mental health charity MIND – which has a local branch based on Drake Street.
Organised by the ‘Rochdale Charity Posties’ group, the day took place during Mental Health Awareness Week (10-16 May) in memory of much-loved colleagues Jonny Clarke and Ste King.
Postal workers marked the day with a variety of outfits, ranging from a unicorn and a purple Tyrannosaurus Rex to Where’s Wally, Jesus Christ, Spiderman, a Roman centurian, a cowboy and even a human sized post box and whoopee cushion.
A representative of Rochdale Charity Posties said: “Never before has mental health and wellbeing been more important.
“Lots of key workers, including posties, all over the country have been suffering with their mental health. We all know someone that has suffered.
“MIND is a great charity that provides support when it is really needed."
