Spring 2023Editor's welcome
A warm welcome to Real Rochdale
Hello and welcome back to the latest edition of Real Rochdale.
Our cover image is the current Man of Rochdale, Dave Richardson, who received the award after dedicating the last six years of his life to raising over £140,0000 to fund a hydrotherapy pool in the local community.
In this edition, we visited BLOKES, a support group for men who have become lonely. They will hit an incredible milestone in spring as BLOKES will have been running their weekly sessions for four years.
Silvana Devine shares her best gardening tips for spring in order to prepare for the growing season. Rick Attwood, the founder of ACE LIPS, shares with us the success his comedy nights have had since being established 10 years ago.
Speaking of achievements, a 49-year-old club record has been broken at Rochdale AFC by striker Ian Henderson, after scoring his 130th goal for the club. He is now known as Dale’s all-time record goalscorer. Congratulations Hendo!
With warmer weather around the corner, Dr Chauhan reminds us of seasonal allergies that still affect one in four of us and how to minimise the reaction.
David Hayden and Natasha Brown have each created an amazing Easter-themed recipe for everyone to try. Enjoy a delicious lamb shank served with mashed potatoes and roasted root vegetables and for dessert, you can attempt the mouth-watering triple layer traybake with a chocolate brownie base.
As always, thank you to our advertisers and contributors – and we hope you enjoy this issue.
